snippets from our little garden... |
When we
moved into our new house, the first things that met my eyes were the trees and
plants around our house that were in a ‘withered, withering, about to wither’
condition. The coconut trees were almost dying as they were not properly cared
for. In short, the whole garden was kinda chaotic.
So, with
the help of two good gardeners, we had the coconut trees pruned, and had the
flower-bearing ones cut to size. The crotons, the lily plants and the rose
plants were given a ‘facelift’ and then, with a long garden hose to assist us,
we began the regular routine of watering them. Soon, the plants began
responding with gusto to the water-treatment. Moreover, watering the plants had
by now become a profoundly therapeutic exercise, and the results were there for
us to see.
The
plants which, many had condemned for a miserable end were here, giving glorious
buds and beautiful flowers for the world to see. The garden lily, which is the
cynosure of our garden, was almost in a withered state, but thanks to good
‘care and concern,’ they began to respond to the gentle treatment given to
them. Now, most of the plants and trees have started bearing flowers and
fruits, and it is indeed a delight to gaze at them all through the day.
Indeed,
this exercise in house-gardening taught me valuable lessons for life. Even if a
plant is in a withered, withering, about to wither’ condition, timely help and
nourishment can save it and make it give its fullest potential. Now, that’s indeed
a valuable lesson for life!
The writeup about nurturing plants indeed teaches a valuable lesson. Plants are living entities and they need our continual care and attention. When you lend your care at the right time, the plants accepted and so they are beautiful when they sway their branches to the tune of the winds. But I wonder whether animals and human beings would take it up at the right time. Relationship with plants and trees is a life time romance. Human beings should learn lessons from nature.
ReplyDeletethank you dear sir for the lovely comment. You said it right! Indeed, "relationship with plants and trees is a life time romance".
