Today, 20 November, happens to be a
red-letter day for a little flock – a little flock of readers!
For the vibrant readies of a kutty little reading community that was formed on this day, two
years ago, in 2017, with the avowed aim
of sharing anything that we read,
with fellow readers of all hues!
Be it a book, a
newspaper article, a poem, a short story, an opinion essay or a feature!
Whatever we read, we thought we’d share it on the group. And so it was, as days
passed us by, we gathered steam, and quite soon we were able to up the ante on the
reader fervor on this, our little group!
Because we were and we
are convinced that to share is to grow! Thereby we read and grow together. The vibrant
logo for our little flock was designed by Prof. Prem, one of our most vibrant
groupies.
Initially we'd wanted to
have students too with us on the group, but then, on second thoughts, we decided to
have readers who have completed their postgraduation, alongside teachers and
professors of all hues, who have a genuine passion for reading.
And ever since, there’s
been no turning back!
We press on and on!
Be it our weekend
panel discussions that have radio silences on them, with an able moderator to
moderate the proceedings, be it the Reading challenges, sponsored by a
publishing group, that gives the winner of the challenge a cool Rupees 2000/-,
or be it the sprightly threads that towline any vibrant post, or the host of
other initiatives that come up on a regular basis on the walls of this hallowed
group! We’ve got them all!
With an able team of
committed, devoted readies, (literary beings we call them!) who beautifully
enhance and enrich the walls of this hallowed group, with their dynamic,
spirited posts, we’ve marched ahead thus far, able and bold!
Looking back at the
past two years of our days in this delightful Whatsapp community of Readers, we
are filled with gratitude to God, and thankfulness to our beloved groupies aka
readies, who have been with us all through!
As two vibrant groupies
put it across, [just this morning,] Readers’ Rendezvous has been ‘A noble
endeavour’, and a ‘wonderful opportunity’, and yet another vibrant groupie
words it, Readers’ Rendezvous ‘has helped me delve deeper into the world of
books and it has also helped me bond with so many like-minded bibliophiles’!
These lines are amazing,
able and noble testaments to what we at Readers’ Rendezvous have always
believed in.
Hail Readers! Hail
Readers’ Rendezvous! Hail all Readies – past and present – at Readers’
Rendezvous!
Allow me, ladies and
gentlemen, to sign off on a solemn note, with a spirited line from Tennyson’s!
‘That which we are, we
are, One equal temper of heroic hearts!’
Ain’t we? ;-)
