"Are written exams alone the best way to assess a student’s worth?" πŸ’œ

A Rewarding Discussion in Class

I MA English | Today

Today’s ‘Happy Hour’ was very rewarding in every way!

The topic for discussion was -

"Are written exams alone the best way to assess a student’s worth?"

The class was then divided into two groups –

The group that favoured ‘Written Exams’ were asked to occupy the seats to their right, while those who did not favour ‘Written Exams’ were asked to occupy the seats to their left.

And then the unexpected happened! πŸ˜Š

To my sweet surprise, almost the entire class made a hasty beeline to their left - to champion the cause of the non-written mode to assess a student’s capabilities πŸ˜Š

I was left wondering if the topic would ‘serve any useful purpose’ now, with everyone championing ‘non-written modes’ to assess a student’s capabilities.

But wait… there was one student who was busy manoeuvering his way from the left to the right!

Alan!

So it was… Alan vs the rest! 😊

And the vibrant discussions today were so fruitful, engaging and rewarding by all means. We were able to get multiple points of view, fresh perspectives and new insights on the topic!

I’m sure the education system today would undergo a dramatic transformation in the near future, by paying heed to the thoughts and opinions of the students as well.

Jennifer Sandra was today’s photographer, while Lakshmi took care of the transcribing part.

Both did an excellent job. πŸ‘πŸ»

The transcript is on the way. Shall post it here as soon as possible.

Well, let me take this opportunity to congratulate the entire class for their amazing thoughts and insights that really made a difference to our perspectives, today.

Special kudos to Jenisha for initiating the discussions today. The class also gave a special appreciation to two of their classmates - Jeeva and Helna who spent a fruitful time at the Anna Centenary Library last week.

Way to go, I MA English Class! Keep up the spirit!
