'If you were going to allow yourself to make a one-degree shift today, what would that be? More joyful? More outspoken? More kind?'

Start Right Where you Are! | Book

Well, quite early into this morning, I was replying to a string of emails in all earnestness.

One such mail that I loved replying to, was from one of my past students!

He was one of my best students! An ardent reader as well!

While giving him a few guidelines on his research, I also added a note towards the end, saying,

Dear R,

‘While working on new thoughts and new ideas towards your Research, make sure your thoughts and ideas also help towards making the world a better place!’

The world needs such minds! Such hearts, ain’t it?

Minds and hearts with such guts and such mettle!!

In fact, the world today requires people who could proactively engage themselves with Nature, with humanity and with everything around them, without being judgmental or pessimistic or cynical in any way!

Change makers, we call them!

And one such book that will help motivate you big-time to be an effective change maker, is by Sam Bennett and it’s titled, Start Right Where you Are!

If you were going to allow yourself to make a one-degree shift today, what would that be?

Would you choose to be 1 percent more courageous?

More joyful? More outspoken? More kind?

Pick a word that you would like to be able to say describes you, and now — right now — find a way to be 1 percent more that way!

Says Sam in this, her book!

The subtitle to the book is equally intriguing as well!

How Little Changes Can Make a Big Difference for Overwhelmed Procrastinators, Frustrated Overachievers, and Recovering Perfectionists

One of her famous quote-lines that’s done wonders to any many ‘Overwhelmed Procrastinators’, ‘Frustrated Overachievers’, and ‘Recovering Perfectionists’, all over the world goes thus -

There’s really no such thing as being creative or not-creative. Everyone is creative. It’s just a matter of how you choose to use your creativity to have a happier and more impactful life.

Quite a motivation, ain’t it?

Each of the 65 little chapters to this wonderful book are ponderables and deliverables in every way with self-help exercises along the way!

Sam real works on your motivational levels over-time and makes sure you put your hands on the plough, and rightaway at that!

What’s her hypothesis then, you may ask!

Well, as she explains it at the start of the book,

When you decide that you want something and you move toward it physically, emotionally, or spiritually, then your movement opens up new pathways by which things can appear in your life. Even a very small step (physical, emotional, or spiritual) can cause a radical change in your relationship to the thing you want.

Even a small shift in perspective can allow you to see new opportunities.

And those times when you wished and hoped for things to change, but nothing happened?

It’s because you never actually moved. You stayed put.

So your relationship to the potentiality of all things remained the same, and you kept getting the same results, over and over and over and over again.

Something akin to Paulo Coelho’s, but here it is not only the universe that conspires, but your conviction and resolve that inspires you to move on, and move ahead!

Personally, I would suggest that, you read just two chapters from off this guide book, per day!

And please remember that, a novel could be read at a stretch! On the other hand, self-help books that double up as motivational guide books, require much time for reading!

That’s a cue and a clue to reading Bennett, Sam Bennett, for y’all!

So how pray, does Sam Bennett work on your potential big time?

Simple!

She starts off with her own life story.

How she was a miserable, dejected wretch and how she was able to move across her failures, and become the successful lady that she is, today!

I WAS TOTALLY MISERABLE. In the vise grip of depression, broke, exhausted, and completely fed up with myself. It was 1998, but it could have been any year of my adult life,

she starts off on her introduction, and adds on,

My life was a chronically overscheduled mess of part-time jobs, gigs, classes, auditions, projects, and shows. I usually made just barely enough money, but not quite. I remember bursting into tears in the middle of Target because I couldn’t afford the sixteen bucks for a new pair of yoga pants...

And guess what my life is like now? Let me put it this way — in the past eleven days I have:

• started writing a new book because I got a great idea in the middle of the night that will not leave me alone.

• bought a new car because it was time to retire my wonderful 2000 Honda Accord with 184,000 miles on it.

• paid a giant tax bill — which was great because it means business is good and getting better all the time, and plus I had salted the money away over the course of the year, so I could pay in full. My tax dude is very proud of me.

• taught seven classes — six online, one in person — to a total of over 1,500 brilliant, creative people from all over the world.

• had a crown replaced (ugh), got my iPhone fixed (also ugh), had two short, effective team meetings with my fabulous crew, and finished reading two novels.

So that’s what this book is for: to help you make the little changes that will lead to big joy.

And big joy can make a big difference. It could even change the world.

Since the changes that she suggests to us all are so small, you might want to try each of them at least once, and then you can keep doing the ones you like and jettison the rest.

And each of her favorite ‘little changes’ that she suggests to her readers are worth their weight in platinum and more!

So why wait?

Start right where you are!

Today!!

Rightaway!!!

All the best, folks!
