Aplly to be a Teach for India Fellow...:

The Teach for India Initiative plans to recruit the highest-quality university graduates and young professionals who demonstrate core competencies to drive impact on student achievement and become long-term leaders able to effect systemic change.

Students in their final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, as well as young professionals working full time, are encouraged to apply. You must be fluent in English to be part of the Teach For India Fellowship in 2009. For more details, visit their website HERE. First Application deadline is 01 December, 2008.

To be a scribe, you only need to be able to listen and write, and of course want to help. Iscribe acts as the meeting ground for scribes, wannabe scribes, and people who need scribes. It tells the former where to register themselves and it tells the latter who are the nearest scribes available in their cities.

Needed - Volunteers..:

The Government Museum, Chennai, invites applications for a "Friends of the Museum" circle.
Residents of the city above the age of 18 years can apply.
The Museum in Egmore is a multi-purpose museum, comprising art, archaeology, numismatics and science sections. It has a collection of over 70,000 objects in 47 galleries. The 'Friends of the Museum' initiative is intended to create a bridge between the museum and the public of Chennai. It would be on a purely voluntary or honorary basis.
Applicants would be registered and trained by curators according to the field of their choice. No payment would be made for the service.
Registration should be done or or before March 20, 2008. Interested persons can contact Uma Maheswari, Education Curator, at 2819 3238 on working days. The first training of 'Friends of the Museum' would be held in April 2008.

Business Writing Contest: - The Madras Management Association and teh Sanmar Group have announced the second Ramaswamy Business Writing Competition, which is aimed at nurturing young professionals' talent in drafting business proposals. The competition will be held on January 19 at different locations in Chennai. The proposals will be judged for logical flow, clarity, simplicity and grammar.
The three best business proposals will receive the 'MMA-Sanmar Effective Business Communication' Award, a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.One lakh. FOr further details, call 24962766.
