Bring your Gifts to the World | Motivation

Just this evening, I was reading
through a lovely book on the ‘Art of Writing’.
It’s titled, The Writing Commitment, authored
by Michael E. Adelstein & Jean G. Pival from the University of Kentucky.
The book emphasizes on the importance
of the ‘craft’ of writing to every human being.
Quoting Peter Drucker,
the writers say –
As soon as you move
one step up from the bottom, your effectiveness depends on your ability to
reach others through the spoken or the written word.
The book is high on motivation as
well. The writers add to say that -
You will be represented by your
writing.
You will be known, evaluated,
admitted, given a job, promoted, on the basis of your writing.
In short, Your Message is You!
It may be compared to other creative
acts: cooking a gourmet meal, taking photographs, designing a house, making
pottery - all contain your flavor, your signature, your touch,
say the authors.
Now for the most important part –
Dear reader,
Each of us is endowed and blessed with a
plethora of mesmerizingly beautiful gifts and talents.
When I share a gift with my friend,
and my friend in turn shares it with his friend, who in turn shares it with her
friend, the gift thus shared has a transformative, therapeutic appeal to it,
whose measure is beyond compare, enriching and enlightening both the receiver
and the sender in the process!
Thus, an artist takes his inspiration
from the world, transforms it through his art, which in turn, transforms the
world, and all that therein is!
When you are blessed with a gift,
share it with the world.
A gift must always be shared! Because
the gift is a ‘property’ that perishes!
A gift loses its property if its not
shared.
If you have the gift of writing,
share it!
If you have the gift of speaking, share
it!
If you have the gift of drawing, share
it!
If you have the gift of inspiring others,
share it!
If you have the gift of making lovely
videos, share it!
If you have the gift of doing crochet work, share it!
If you have the gift of writing
poetry, share it!
if you have the gift of vlogging, take to it!
Do not worry about the fruits to your
labour.
One of the beautiful precepts in the Bhagawad
Gita states that –
‘Do your duty, do not expect the
results’.
Yes! Likes, or Subscribers
or Views or Comments should not be a bother to you anytime!
If you overthink, and bother excessively
about the ‘Likes’, and the ‘Views’, for your creativity, that means - you are disregarding your precious duty or disrespecting your sacred duty, your gifts and your value!
That’s also because you are not focused on the
duty, but only on the reward!
You are given your gifts to share them
with the world, without worrying about the results.
When you are worried about the results,
it simply means that you are filled with the ‘I’ or the ‘Self’ that prevents
you from faithfully doing your duty.
To J. Krishnamurti - the ‘me’ in me, is the real reason that prevents me from doing my duty to
perfection.
We are so mired in our own ‘self’ value,
that we lose out on the real aura and meaning of life and living!

The man who plays
the violin with artistry and keeps his eye on his fame isn’t interested in the
violin, he is only exploiting it to be famous!
The “me” is far more important
to him, than the music, and so it is with the writer or the painter with an eye
on fame!
Without love there is no art.
When the artist is
playing beautifully there is no “me;” there is only love and beauty, and this
is art.
This is skill in action. Skill
in action is the absence of the “me”.
Art is the absence of the
“me”,
says J. Krishnamurti.
In other words, when the artist is playing beautifully there is no “me;” there is no expectation about the fruits - Likes, Views, Subscribers, Comments, etc.
In this regard, I’m so happy to share
with you about a few of our lovely students who have been consistently shining by
sharing their creative gifts with the world in such a sustained manner.

Abraham, II BA English, has been writing

Jeffilda is yet another lively kid
who keeps sharing inspirationals on a regular basis.
Senyavel is a lovely literary being
who has taken to reading books so passionately.
I was so thrilled to see her vibrant
and motivating vlog that she’d shared straight from OM Books, Anna Nagar. In
the video, Senyavel had shared so excitedly about the books that she has
bought. I had shared it on my WhatsApp status as well. Many students and staff
were inspired so much by her video, and they’ve promised that they would also
go to OM Books, Anna Nagar.
That’s the power of sharing!
Senyavel had shared from her
passion, which has subsequently inspired so many literary hearts, who in turn,
have promised to go to OM Books.
Such is the immense value that lies
in sharing your gifts to the world.
Yesterday evening, while talking to
Senyavel and her beloved Dad, I was quoting from Meik Wiking to her, (Meik is supposed to be the
happiest person in the world, who also heads the Happiness Research Institute), who is known for his book titled, The Key to
Happiness. You may want to watch a review of the book on our YouTube

Well, this book has had a transformative
appeal on me, personally, as well.
Meik says, ‘If you see something, say
something’ about it.
I’m sure Senyavel kiddo, who is such
an amazing bundle of talent, and a vibrant literary being, is gonna make us all
proud by sharing from her love and passion for literature, in her own unique ways.
Shreya Prasath from II BA English is
yet another vibrant kid who’s been writing such lovely poetry with such amazing
consistency.
Vishnu from III BA English has
also been very consistent in sharing his creative vibes with the world.
Asline, Brindha, Sneka and Lalitha from
the II MA English class, had interviewed an octogenarian Research Scholar, Dr.
Krishnamachari, a couple of weeks ago, with such profound and insightful
questions. This past week again, they had interviewed eminent advocate Arulmozhi,
along with Ganesh Aadhitya.
Souparno Bhattacharya has
come up with a creative short film, that’s so unique in its presentation. That’s
again, celebrating one’s gift and sharing it with the world. You may want to watch it HERE.
So well, that’s exactly what it
means to make use of your gifts towards making the world a better place!
And that’s exactly the real worth and
value of a gift given to us.
