What Makes George Washington University, Unique?
Today | In Campus
On George Washington University, J. Krishnamurti and Jayakanthan
#reflections
Today we had Ms. Regina from George Washington University, visiting us in the Office of International Programmes.
This was the second round of discussions we had with them today. Their delegation had visited us earlier - last month for initiating discussions on possible avenues for collaboration between the two institutions.
Indeed, we had a very rewarding time of discussions today.
Well, it was so nice to get to know about the pride of place occupied by George Washington University in academia.
“The White House is just around three minutes away from our University”, said Ms. Regina.
“The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund are located inside our Campus. Moreover, we’ve our own Metro Station – Foggy Bottom Station, located within Campus”.
“We’ve around 26,500 students with students from over 125 countries enrolled in GWU. The US State Department is beside us, while the SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States), is just ten minutes away from our Campus, she added.
This proximity to top notch institutions makes GWU a cut above the rest - offering students extraordinary access to internships, networking opportunities, and cultural experiences in the nation's capital, said Ms. Regina.
They’ve got a Career Centre where they handhold the student from the first week of their enrollment to their exit. They also have periodic Career Outcome Classes.
The George Washington University was chartered in 1821 by the United States Congress. It is also the first university founded under Washington, D.C.’s jurisdiction, and one of the nation’s six federally chartered universities.
The university offers degree programs in seventy-one disciplines, enrolling around 11,500 undergraduate and 15,000 graduate students.
Well, after bidding adieu to Ms. Regina, we stayed back to wish the birthday kid Stephanie Silviya Miracline, a very Happy Birthday. Stephanie is interning with the Office of International Programmes along with a host of other vibrant students.
This was followed by a lively and spirited time of discussions between faculty and students on Jayakanthan and J. Krishnamurti, that went on and on! when suddenly we realised that it was 2.20 pm and we decided to call it a day! 😊
A rewarding day indeed!
