Is the law easier on celebrities? (Student Assignment)

It is not uncommon to find celebrity faces flashing on the TV screens. It is shocking only when they are flashed for some crime that they’ve committed. Be it Paris Hilton driving under influence or Sanjay Dutt’s illegal weapon or Salman Khan’s poaching, when they flash on the TV screens, there is really nothing else that matters in the NEWS. Live coverage of this is what in the main agenda.

Do common folks get this sort of attention when they commit a crime as such?

It doesn’t stop there. There is a live telecast of their day in the prison (as if they were there on a holiday) to gain the sympathy of their fans. And where does it go from there? An immediate Bail, and a subsequent reduction in the punishment for the offence committed. So is the law not easier on celebrities?

While some so annoyingly state “Oh well they do serve atleast some time of their punishment!”, I just want to ask can any Ram, Sita or John walk away having served atleast some time of their punishment?

So what is it that which makes them exclusive? Is it the fame or the money? I believe it’s the money first and then the fame. The money they cant spend is beyond the imaginations of common folks! Not just celebrities like movie stars or pop stars, but even big business tycoons and underworld mafia easily walk away too because of their money.

To conclude, I feel that celebrities too must be treated as just another criminal when they commit a crime. There can be no exclusive laws for Celebrities!
