at
MIDS,
II Main Road, Gandhi Nagar, Adyar, Chennai
A three year
project on Sexual Violence and Impunity in South Asia, led by a group of nine
advisors from five countries (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka), resulted
in a wonderful compilation. The 8 volumes that have emerged out of this effort
examine a range of issues: from examining the use of sexual violence as a
weapon of war in times of internal and external conflict to interrogating the
prosecution of rape trails in South Asia; from looking at the ways in which
women survive and engage with questions of law, evidence, and the courts to
considering the issues they have to confront at the level of family and
community. This seminar addresses these issues in the context of Sri Lanka –
drawing from the volume, The Search for
Justice: The Sri Lanka Papers.
