Literature for Transformation! 🎉
In this article from today’s ‘Dinamani’ newspaper, the
distributor of the 2019 Tamil film, “Miga Miga Avasaram”, [Very Very Urgent] thanks the story
writer and the script writer of the film for their impactful story, that was
instrumental in the TN Govt's order which says that,
“Women police personnel will no longer be deployed on roads across
the state for long hours”.
In the film, a female police constable by name Samandhi, is forced to stand on a bridge on a hot day while her male superintendent refuses to give her leave to use the toilet!
Speaks to the tremendous power of art in bringing about a great transformation in society! 🎊✨
Reminded of eminent critic Scupin Richard’s famous dictum which goes thus -
‘Literature transforms, Theory liberates’! 🎶
