'The old order changeth, yielding place to new…!' πŸ’›

School Years | Football Days

12 August 1994 😍

[27 years ago… ] πŸ’•

Today, (as usual) we had our regular early morning roll call, tea and study time followed by a routine cleaning of our cubicles.

Breakfast time was usually followed by newspaper time for all of us!

12 August 1994 from my diary

Zoology Master had told us earlier on, that he’d be giving us a test today.

However, (and to our impish joy), 😁 he seemed to have blissfully forgotten all about it. [And as is usual, a hush-toned SoS was quickly ‘passed on’ to our Class Monitor Darshan, not to remind him of that! πŸ™

Today we also had a football match between our Class (M1) and Commerce boys.

We won 2-0!

Those days we used to have ‘Grant me’ forms or Out-pass Slips, on which we had to mention our reason for going out, along with the scheduled duration of our outing as well.

We usually write, ‘Shopping for Essentials’, and we then go on a merry-window-shopping-spree all over Alsa Mall, Egmore – (since it was quite close to our School) - a favorite jaunt for youngsters of all hues back then, before our giant Malls of today gently usurped on the title!

Reminds me of the famous Tennyson-ian line -

The old order changeth yielding place to new…!

How true!
